The goal was to create a animation set for a character and export it to Unreal Engine 4. I used Unreal's Animation and Rigging Toolkit (ART) plugin made for Maya. The animation set included: Idle, Walk, Run and 3-hit combo. The animations were exported as .FBX and connected to state machine. Additionally I created an animation blueprint for the character so that it can response to key inputs and interect with environment. For the 3-hit combo, I scripted an animation montage which allowed the character to reset to idle animation when the button input was wrong. Finally, i managed to retarget the default mannequin character to another character from Unreal's Paragon asset library.
Softwares: Maya, Unreal Engine 4
I used the help of Unreal Sequencer Editor to build a cinematic. With ‘Sequencer’, it is much easier to add various specialized tracks such as skeletal meshes with animations, audio clips, particle effects and multiple cameras to set up the cinematic sequence. It's a fight sequence between two character. The whole sequence was rendered in UE4.
